For starters, what does Ellevoro mean? It is the main herb used in the old days for regular digestion. It was discovered by ancient Greeks and was highlighted for its beneficial attributes on after-meal digestion. It has a meaning of care in relation to food, like grandmom Sophia that cooks with the same love for what she does. The restaurant began its operation in 1998 as «Thekla's Tavern». It is now managed by the third generation of the family, with the granddaughter Elena Fragkoulia having set her personal touch in the restaurant. The dishes of the day alter depending on the ingredients and the seasons, because we want the visting people to constantly come across different flavours.
The specialty on our delicious dishes derives from the traditional pot, which we use while cooking. It is an art that only few are accustomed to nowadays. The pots that grandmom cooks in - for the chef to take over and finish the dishes, have been custom-ordered from Sifnos. The 'homatina', the skepastaries as they are called, is a very special and healthy cuisine. In Ellevoro the atmosphere is entirely homelike. From the fireplace and the embroidery, to the tables, along with the bathrooms and the wide range of vintage objects in every corner, people forget that they have just visited a restaurant and live the feeling of an old manor.
